Charlotte Humspton's current work focuses on time-based art and the moving image. She makes short films and installations combining moving images, sometimes paintings and sculptural elements, that evoke 'the spirit of place' in combination with personal stories. She is currently further developing her research methodologies focusing on stories from life, novels and history that have a special significance to a place.
She originally started the award winning theatre troupe Red Shift Theatre Company, which won 3 Edinburgh Fringe 1st Awards
For 25 years she was a production designer for Film Television and Commercials.
In August 2015 she was invited to International Symposium for Electronic Art to discuss her work and also sat on a panel chaired by Terry Flaxton on the subject area of 'Waves of Technology', which also included Dr Leon Gurevitch, another CMIR affiliate.
Recent installations include:
'Cradlebridge' a reflection on, a real-life event and how it was impacted by the Somerset Moors.
'The Aspern Papers' a novella inspired by real events set in Venice.
I am currently completing my Masters in Fine Art at Bath Spa University.
